Welcome to Syntax

Hello poetry lovers! If you’re joining us for the first time – a lot of information on our website is from our first festival in 2019, so it’s a little out of date… sorry, a pandemic happened!

Head to our residency pages to find out about our programme for 2021!

Peterborough’s festival of poetry and spoken word. Premiering on 1st – 30th November 2019. Brought to you by a committee of the city’s poets and partners. Supported by Arts Council England.

Peterborough’s poetry scene is thriving. We want to celebrate and build on our community of writers and performers and create something special and locally grown by Peterborough poets. We hope to meet new writers and readers along the way!

Our festival programme is full of top wordy entertainment from our city’s best talent through to international best sellers. We have events suitable for families, budding writers, word lovers, and those who enjoy a good night out.

If you have attended a Syntax event and you would like to give us some feedback then please go to this Jotform and fill it out here: https://form.jotformeu.com/93083862081358

What to expect at Syntax

If you love poetry, spoken word, literature, and having fun- this festival is for you!

During Syntax we have performances from the likes of Andrew McMillan, Mark Grist, Kat Francois, and Toby Campion to name a few. As well as that, we will also be crowning the new Peterborough Poet Laureate, and place 13 poets out across the city to spend time in residence, meeting new people, and writing poems inspired by the people and places in Peterborough.
